Sept. 4, 2008 — Hanna causing scheduling problems

Today’s Game of the Day
Tiverton (R.I.) vs. South Kingstown (R.I.), 3:45 p.m.
These two teams also have a strong Rhode Island Interscholastic League championship heritage. Between them, they won five RIIL Division II championships between 1998 and 2003.

The expected Saturday landfall of Tropical Storm Hanna has caused some shifting of the scholastic field hockey schedule, including the postponement of the Sun Devil Invitational at the National Training Center in Virginia Beach.

The decision, made this morning, allows the 16 teams from Virginia, North Carolina, and Kentucky to make changes in travel arrangements and allows Salem High School to find another date at Landstown Road for the 32-game tourney.

Hanna is likely going to affect a number of prominent games this weekend, including Kingston Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) at Flourtown Mount St. Joseph Academy (Pa.), the Herndon (Va.) Invitational, and numerous four-school tournaments in the state of Maryland.
