Feb. 21, 2011 — Hitting the target
The United States’ 3-2 loss to Argentina in the last match of a four-nations tournament showed not only a how well the team has come together without a couple of its veteran members, but the value of a good drag-flicker.
Sure, it’s good to have an all-around game and many all-around players.
But when your defending Olympic champion has a player whose goal-scoring is as close to automatic as you can get on set pieces, and you understand the value of Claire Laubach going forward.
