March 16, 2012 — A significant coaching domino?

Today’s Game of the Day
Oregon City (Ore.) at Hillsboro Century (Ore.)
Last spring, Oregon City ended Century’s season in the state tournament. This rematch is key for the Jaguars’ confidence, having lost their season opener to Wilson.

On the heels of the Canadian women’s national side failing to qualify for the Olympics and the University of Alberta’s decision to drop the sport, a nationally-known figure in the coaching ranks is leaving.

Hash Kanjee, who has led the University of British Columbia to eight national championships and 15 consecutive appearances in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship tournament, has decided to leave his post after 293 games in charge in 19 seasons.

In terms of the future of the sport in Canada, this is not a good sign.
