Former England international Craig Parnham, who led England’s U-21 women’s national team to a fourth-place finish at the 2009 Junior World Cup in Boston, is coming back to the United States as head coach of the U.S. women’s national team.
Parnham was an assistant coach for Team GB at the 2012 Olympics. Previously, he was captain of the England and Great Britain Olympic efforts amongst his 115 caps for the senior side.
TopOfTheCircle.com has learned that Parnham was interviewed and offered the job in late December, but that the announcement was delayed in order to firm up details.
USA Field Hockey has not yet named an assistant coach, but has announced that an interim coach will be with the U.S. team during workouts in California later this month in preparation for World League Round 2 play in April.
There was also no announcement of a timetable for the hiring of a U.S. technical director, but one name fell out of the picture. Danny Kerry, who guided Team GB to bronze at London as head coach, has been named England Hockey’s new technical director.
First Australian now Great Britain.. Who is next, New zealand then Canada?
There was an unconfirmed report that an Argentine coach was considered.
