Jan. 6, 2007 — Countdown to a sport’s destiny

Sometime around Jan. 21, 2007, the National Federation of State High School Associations may vote to change the sport of field hockey forever.

On the docket, for the third year in a row, is legislation mandating eyewear in high-school play in front of the field hockey rules committee.

Over the next 14 days, this blog will publish reasons why the sport should not have mandatory goggles or other eyewear. Much of the information to be published can already be found in our public safety campaign, RightToRightIsRight.com. Other information is newer.

Together, the next several blog entries will present a comprehensive, bulletproof, and incontravertible argument.

It’s an argument you can make to the Federation by using the information on this page. If you use the form, make sure to click the top popup menu so that it says “Sports” then make the lower popup menu say “Field Hockey,” then write your message.
