Serving the scholastic field hockey and lacrosse community since 1998

BULLETIN: March 11, 2015 — Sholder makes an early commitment to North Carolina

Meredith Sholder, the brilliant Emmaus (Pa.) forward and midfielder who holds the second-best single-season scoring marks for both freshmen and sophomores in the history of high-school field hockey, will be attending the same school as the player with the top marks in both categories.

Sholder is coming off a stint with the U.S. senior women’s national indoor field hockey team, leading the team in scoring during the Big Apple Indoor Tournament. She’s also become the talisman for the Emmaus (Pa.) program the last couple of season, scoring 95 goals despite the fact that she was playing a lot of midfield during her sophomore season.

In making her verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina, Sholder is committing to the same university as all-time leading scorer Austyn Cuneo, who holds the all-time record for all four high-school grade levels.

Much will be expected of both, especially during the window of time the two are on campus at the same time.
