Serving the scholastic field hockey and lacrosse community since 1998

April 7, 2015 — Redoing the math (we think) ….

This afternoon, the girls’ lacrosse team at Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.) defeated The Potomac (Md.) School by a score of 18-3 in an Independent School League (ISL) regular-season game.

I thought that the win would have been head coach Kathy Jenkins’ 677th career win, putting her within one of the total the all-time best-known mark of 678 wins by former Greenwich (Conn.) Academy head coach Angela Tammaro.

But that’s why this space double-checks these numbers.

Turns out that both U.S. Lacrosse and Greenwich Academy credits Tammaro with exactly 700 victories. I was originally skeptical of this number and checked the wins total using LaxPower from the point where she had reached her 600th win. Somehow, I got 678 instead of 700. But I’ll defer to higher authority in this situation.

I also checked Jenkins’ numbers and somehow I managed to credit her with four more wins than she should have, so her total is back down to 673.

I think we’re all square, though I could be wrong.
