April 11, 2015 — Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 14, Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) 4

POSTGAME Thanks for tuning in; we’ll have more this afternoon from Spring Fling in Alexandria, Va.

POSTGAME McDonogh, it seems, likes to play at an even higher level than normal again non-conference opponents. It almost seems as though the opposition doesn’t even know what has hit them until it’s far too late

POSTGAME As has been the case many times before, McDonogh won the game in several phases. It was not just the draw: the Eagles played good close defense and doubled the ball smartly.

POSTGAME Bishop Ireton came in and played very well in the first few minutes, but then the Eagles started winning the draws; if not on the first pull, but on the chase for the ground ball

FULL TIME sounds with McDonogh winning the game 14-4

47:00 McDonogh is man-up and content to run the clock

HALFTIME As well as McDonogh has done on free position shots, credit Ireton goaltender Amelia Cole with a fine half

4:05 MCD FP and GOAL Savannah Buchanan from the center hash; McDonogh leads 1-0

0:00 The game is on; Andie Aldave on the draw for McDonogh — it’s nice to know that you can replace your starting center with a member of the U.S. junior national team!

PREGAME Bishop Ireton is in the maroon with gold numbers; McDonogh is in the all-white with black numbers and orange trim

PREGAME The teams are warming up under windy conditions, temperatures in the low 60s

PREGAME I’ll reference you to yesterday’s preview, but I think the key to the game today will be the center draw. Olivia Jenner, the McDonogh center, is out with an ankle injury. Her sister Maddy and senior Kelsey Cummings will likely have to be on the draw today, which will throw a variable in the Ireton strategy

PREGAME Both teams are undefeated and are sitting private-school champions in their respective states; this should be a dandy of a game

PREGAME Welcome to W. Boulton Dixon Field on the campus of Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) as the host Eagles take on Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.)
