Aug. 25, 2015 — NCAA Division III preview

Over the next three days, we’ll give you our three collegiate divisional previews. But they’re going to be in a slightly different format from years’ past.

The Fearless 5ive

Bowdoin: National runners-up in a rich seam of form the last decade, winning four times. Will national runners-up be back on top this time?
Middlebury: Panthers have to think last year was a missed opportunity; played so well before meeting TCNJ in the Final Four
New Jersey: Nine-time champs found a way to use all-time great Lexi Smith and benefitted greatly. But can the Lions repeat?
Salisbury: Had a series of one-goal games in the tournament; will the Gulls break through this time?
Skidmore: Thoroughbreds went on a spring trip to Holland and Greece; will the team benefit from the experience?

Five More To Watch

Catholic: One goal short of last year’s Final Four, a good senior class may get them to their goal
Franklin & Marshall: Team was 18-1 before falling in national octofinal round
Kenyon: The Ohio school may have lost in the first round of the tournament a year ago, but are looking to improve; team is spending Labor Day Weekend playing at Johns Hopkins and at York College
Messiah: Very young in the goal cage, but the Falcons are more than capable
Stevenson: ECAC Mid-Atlantic champions are on an improvement curve

The Darkhorse

University of Rochester: Might have the mix of players to make the team’s second NCAA appearance under head coach Wendy Andreatta
