Sept. 22, 2015 — Top 10 for the week of Sept. 20

This past week, we saw yet another major challenge for a No. 1 team on this site’s Top 10. And, as happened so many other times over the last decade and a half, the team at the top is able to hold off its rival. Such is what happened with Eastern’s 3-1 win over Oak Knoll which could very well have been different with a couple of more cleanly-handled passes on both sides. I have the feeling these teams may see each other again, but there may be an interloper or two in the Tournament of Champions.

This week’s No. 11 Team of the Week is Enfield (Conn.), which contested its final town derby match against Enfield Enrico Fermi (Conn.) last week, winning 3-0. The two school districts, representing the town of 44,000 about 10 miles north of the state capital of Hartford, are scheduled to merge next year.

In the big games, in pressure situations, the Vikings got it done again, beating Oak Knoll 3-1
