Serving the scholastic field hockey and lacrosse community since 1998

Nov. 5, 2015 — A game grows on the other side of the trees

If you’ve ever driven along the John F. Kennedy Expressway in Baltimore, you may notice the point where the city ends and the outer suburbs begin. After a series of industrial sites is a lush forest abutting the expressway, making it feel like you’re in a green tunnel; you almost forget you’re still in a city with more than 600,000 people.

The forest, around Cold Spring Road, masks the fact that Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, one of Baltimore’s public schools, is tucked in at the bottom of a hill catty-corner from the Baltimore Country Club.

It is there, and downtown at Baltimore City College, where the concept of rebuilding field hockey in the city’s public schools is taking root. Here’s the story from the Baltimore Sun.
