April 19, 2016 — Top 10 for the week of April 17

So, the Gains for Brains tournament really provided an enormous shakeup for the Top 10 of this week. And it’s not going to be the last shakeup, I’m sure.

1. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 12-0

To meet Baltimore Roland Park (Md.) on Thursday; the Reds have given the Eagles their toughest games the last couple of years

2. Summit (N.J.) 6-0

Hilltoppers have a tough week after their tournament win in New York; have to deal with Westfield, Ridgewood, and Mountain Lakes in consecutive games

3. Garden City (N.Y.) 6-1

After their early-season loss to Cold Spring Harbor, the Trojans have been on a tear, beating Moorestown (N.J.) last weekend at Gains for Brains

4. Darien (Conn.) 5-1

Beat West Islip (N.Y.) 9-8, but the tough part of the season lies ahead for the Blue Wave

5. South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 8-0

Edged Summit Oak Knoll (N.J.) last weekend at the Gains for Brains tournament

6. Westwood (Mass.) 5-0

Wolverines take on Longmeadow (Mass.) on Thursday; could be the telling match amongst Massachusetts public schools this season

7. Ellicott City Marriotts Ridge (Md.) 7-0

Mustangs must remained focused before their April 30th showdown with McDonogh

8. Severna Park (Md.) 8-0

Needed overtime to get past Glenelg (Md.) last week

9. Baltimore Roland Park (Md.) 8-1

The McDonogh game may loom large Thursday, but the Northern Parkway rivalry match with Bryn Mawr is tomorrow

10. Olney Good Counsel (Md.) 12-1

The Falcons have a pair of WCAC rivals this week before meeting McDonogh on Monday

Who’s out: Mount Sinai (N.Y.) 11-7 loss to Wantagh (N.Y.); Summit Oak Knoll (N.J.) 9-8 OT loss to South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.); West Islip (N.Y.) 10-8 loss to Northport (N.Y.); 9-8 loss to Darien (Conn.), Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) 18-8 loss to Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.)
