Oct. 14, 2016 — Friday Statwatch for games played through Oct. 12

Hello, friends, and welcome to Friday Statwatch, our weekly journey across the American field hockey statistical landscape.

This week’s most statistically significant events surround the nation’s top scorers. Emmaus (Pa.) senior Meredith Sholder is now all by herself in second place in career goals, having become just the third 200-goal scorer in National Federation history, San Diego Serra (Calif.) senior Megan Rodgers was the first this year to get to 50 goals.

In addition,  Mackenzie Allessie crossed the 100-goal barrier for her career as a sophomore for Mount Joy Donegal (Pa.). She’s only the second sophomore, that we know of, to have done so.

What you see below reflects games through the end of play on Wednesday. We’re hoping that each of you can adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, and we encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.

Below is a combination of stats from, amongst others, MaxPreps.com, PhilaFieldHockey.com, Advance Media, The Harrisburg Patriot-News, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, MassLive.com, The Washington Post, The Lancaster New Era, The Reading Eagle, and the Ann Arbor News:

So, here’s the catch. We don’t think all of the above are correct. If you see a stat that is missing, out of place, or just plain wrong, please let us know — bearing in mind that the above is as of the close of play Wednesday. Feel free to send us an email to us at TopOfTheCircle.com. Give us a name or a bit of documentation (a website will do) so that we can make the adjustment. Statwatch is meant to be a living, breathing document — one that can be adjusted or corrected at any time.

Thanks a lot for reading, and we’ll chat next week.
