Oct. 21, 2016 — Friday Statwatch for games played through Oct. 19

Welcome back to Friday Statwatch, our weekly look at the world of field hockey through the numbers that cross over to different eras. This week, we’re going to give you a little statistical tidbit that defines the kind of form that Watertown (Mass.) has exhibited in the last few years.

On Nov. 9, 2013, the Raiders beat North Andover (Mass.) in the state quarterfinal round. In the 63 games since then, Watertown has given up exactly two goals, shutting out 61 opponents.

What follows below reflects games through the end of play on Wednesday. We’re hoping that each of you can adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, and we encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.

Below is a combination of stats from, amongst others, MaxPreps.com, PhilaFieldHockey.com, Advance Media, The Harrisburg Patriot-News, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, MassLive.com, The Washington Post, The Lancaster New Era, The Reading Eagle, and the Ann Arbor News:

Here’s where you come in. If you see a number that needs a correction, please let us know — bearing in mind that the above is as of the close of play Wednesday. Feel free to send us an email to us at TopOfTheCircle.com. Give us a name or a bit of documentation (a website will do) so that we can make the adjustment. Statwatch is meant to be the kind of feature that can be adjusted or corrected at any time.

Thanks a lot for stopping in, and we’ll do it all again in seven days.
