It was nearly a decade ago when Kelly Fitzpatrick and Bri Davies helped author a season for the ages for Palmyra (Pa.) field hockey. On the way to winning the 2006 Class AA title, Fitzpatrick scored a national-best 66 goals, and set a state career record which has since been exceeded twice.

But Fitzpatrick had her collegiate career at Michigan truncated because of a kidney ailment which kept her out of action until her senior season.

In adulthood, that ailment affected her more and more until she had to be put on an emergency donor list. That is, until she found a match right under her nose. Read this story from the Lebanon Daily News.
