Dec. 15, 2017 — The final Top 50

We’re at the end of another domestic field hockey season, and with it, trying to list a national Top 50.

Heading it, of course, is undefeated Millersville Penn Manor (Pa.), which had such talent on defense that it wasn’t necessary to hammer the opponent for nine or 10 goals per contest on the attack end. Penn Manor was led on offense by Emma DeBerdine and Gabby Bitts, both of whom will be playing Division I field hockey in the near future.

The Comets are the finest team in all the land, and are a deserving No. 1 for the year. (NB: the team, as well as the others named No. 1 by this site over the years, cannot be termed “National High School Champion” because the phrase is trademarked by the National Federation of State High School Associations.)

So, after some long evenings and plenteous servings of French vanilla coffee, here’s the Top 50:
