April 3, 2018 — Top 10 for the week of April 1

Hi, everyone.

Despite my layover in the hospital at the weekend, we’re still willing and able to provide you, my loyal readers, our first of the weekly Top 10s of the best girls’ lacrosse teams in America.

And, as usual, we will try to highlight a team which did something extraordinary or unique over the course of the week. Our honorary No. 11 Team of the Week is Baltimore William Patterson (Md.), a team which hasn’t played a game yet because of the extreme weather of the early spring. But with the hiring of the current Teewaraton Trophy winner in Zoe Stukenberg, this team has gone through a lot just to get to the point where it is about to play its first game. Weather permitting, of course.

1. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 5-0

Eagles take on one-loss Brooklandville St. Paul’s School for Girls (Md.), weather permitting, tomorrow

2. Pittsford (N.Y.) 0-0

Season opener is this Friday against Fort Washington Germantown Academy (Pa.) before meeting Penfield (N.Y.) Central, Brighton (N.Y.), and Cicero-North Syracuse (N.Y.) in a tough stretch

3. Baltimore Bryn Mawr (Md.) 6-0

Mawrtians host Severna Park Severn School (Md.) tomorrow before traveling to Towson Notre Dame Prep (Md.) for a Monday showdown

4. Syosset (N.Y.) 3-0

An early win over Garden City (N.Y.), but will have a tough Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) group next week

5. Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) 6-1

Cardinals will have a very interesting game at Delray American Heritage (Fla.) on Thursday

6. Novato (Calif.) 8-1

Rory Daly’s high-octane crew may have lost to McDonogh, but they have averaged 20.38 goals against everybody else on the schedule; Hornets have three local opponents this week

7. Delray American Heritage (Fla.) 13-0

Head coach John McClain has put together a nice program which finished with one loss a year ago, and have an enormous victory this year against Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.); Stallions have Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) this week

8. Summit Oak Knoll (N.J.) 1-0

Royals beat a good Westfield (N.J.) team to start the season; Oak Knoll to face a good Mendham (N.J.) side on the 12th

9. Mount Sinai (N.Y.) 1-0

Mustangs have had a week between games because of snow; host Towson Notre Dame Prep (Md.) on Friday

10. Edgewater South River (Md.) 3-0

Seahawks will have five road games before a juicy matchup against Marriottsville Marriotts Ridge (Md.)

11. Baltimore William Patterson (Md.) 0-0

Weather has wreaked havoc on the Clippers’ schedule, but head coach Zoe Stukenberg has this team on the rise

And bear in mind: Darien (Conn.) 0-0, Marriottsville Marriotts Ridge (Md.) 2-0, Ellicott City Glenelg Country School (Md.), Moorestown (N.J.) 3-0, Garden City (N.Y.) 1-0
