April 10, 2018 — Top 10 for the week of April 8

Wow, what a set of contests last week all across America, with big-time teams bringing their very best against each other in regular-season contests as well as the Spring Fling last weekend at Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.).

Our honorary No. 11 Team of the Week is West Babylon (N.Y.) a team which beat a good Eastport-South Manor (N.Y.) side by the score of 9-8. Scoring the goal was 13-year-old Lacey Downey; middle-school-aged players are allowed to play on varsity via NYSPHSAA rules.

1. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 7-0

Eagles on the road the rest of this week against Annapolis St. Mary’s (Md.) and Severna Park Severn School (Md.)

2. Pittsford (N.Y.) 2-0

Panthers dominated Suffern (N.Y.) by a 9-1 scoreline last week; major meeting with Penfield (N.Y.) Central tomorrow and Brighton (N.Y.) on Friday

3. Baltimore Bryn Mawr (Md.) 7-0

Mawrtians traveling to Towson Notre Dame Prep (Md.) for a showdown tomorrow

4. Syosset (N.Y.) 4-0

Braves take on Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) tomorrow

5. Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) 8-1

Came away with a 19-0 win over Delray American Heritage (Fla.) last Thursday

6. Novato (Calif.) 11-1

Hornets will host Winnetka New Trier (Ill.) this Saturday

7. Summit (N.J.) 3-0

Jumps into the T of C conversation with an overtime win over crosstown rival Oak Knoll last Saturday

8. Mount Sinai (N.Y.) 4-0

Mustangs beat Towson Notre Dame Prep (Md.) 6-5 last Friday

9. Edgewater South River (Md.) 3-0

Seahawks have an interesting Thursday matchup at unbeaten Leonardtown (Md.)

Stallions finish regular season against Orlando Lake Highland (Fla.) on Friday
