Oct. 9, 2018 — Top 10 for the week of Oct. 7

This week’s Top 10 had plenty of of risk involved because of the number of interstate and local derby matches this past week, but everything pretty much holds steady, especially given the weekend that Louisville Sacred Heart (Ky.) had, beating a Kingston Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) team that had taken No. 1 Voorhees Eastern (N.J.) team to extra time.

Our honorary No. 11 Team of the Week is the field hockey team from Similikameen Secondary School in Keremeos, British Columbia. The team is far inland from the usual power center of field hockey in western Canada, yet they were able to assemble a starting 11 for its first varsity game last week against Princess Margaret Secondary School in Surrey. The result was a goalless draw.

1. Voorhees Eastern (N.J.) 15-0

Eastern was able to sweep both Kingston Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) and Louisville Sacred Heart (Ky.) last weekend, but an experienced Moorestown (N.J.) side awaits on Saturday

2. Shrub Oak Lakeland (N.Y.) 12-0

Bested Rye (N.Y.) last Saturday; there isn’t much resistance for the Hornets having an undefeated regular season

3. Emmaus (Pa.) 16-0

Emmaus met a quality Swiftwater Pocono Mountain East (Pa.) team yesterday

4. Mount Joy Donegal (Pa.) 15-0

Indians ought to be able to close out an undefeated regular season this week, having beaten their three league opponents by healthy margins already this season

5. Villanova Academy of Notre Dame de Namur (Pa.) 11-0-1

Irish will have a dandy of a game tomorrow when they host Flourtown Mount St. Joseph Academy (Pa.)

6. Summit Oak Knoll (N.J.) 10-1

Ali Good’s side showed tremendously in a 5-0 win over Ocean City (N.J.)

7. Delmar (Del.) 9-0

Swamped Smyrna (Del.) 7-0 at the Turf Bowl at the University of Delaware

8. Millersville Penn Manor (Pa.) 14-1-1
