PREGAME Oley Valley is in the blue with white numbers, Greenwood is in the white with blue kilts

PREGAME The teams are warming up under breezy skies with temperatures hovering around 55 degrees

PREGAME These teams are familiar with each other, having met a year ago in the District semifinal round. Oley won that game 1-0, but it was Greenwood which obtained the state Class 1A championship

PREGAME Paityn Wirth has 173 career goals, which means her next double will make her the seventh player in the last six years to surpass Sharon Landau Berney’s old national record. Wirth could have had more goals but for her duties last year with the U.S. women’s indoor national team

PREGAME Sophia Gladieux comes into this game with 136 goals and a full season to build on that figure. She’s currently one of five players to hit the 50-goal mark this season. Her teammate, Madison Kline, is just three goals away from 100 for her career

PREGAME This being The Day of 1000 Goals, here’s who you should focus on during today’s proceedings

PREGAME Oley Valley, the champions of Berks Division III, is 23-1 on the season; Greenwood, champions of the Tri-Valley Athletic Association and defending PIAA Class A champion, is 18-1

PREGAME First up, from Spartan Stadium on the campus of Hershey Milton Hershey (Pa.), is the championship final of the Class A Tournament between Oley (Pa.) Valley and Millerstown Greenwood (Pa.)

PREGAME Welcome to The Day of 1000 Goals, the tripleheader of games which will determine the champions and runners-up for District 3 of the the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association. It’s a day where the rosters of these six sides have scored more than 1,000 goals in their careers; check yesterday’s blog entry for a breakdown
