April 30, 2019 — Top 10 for the week of April 28

We thought that the Gains for Brains Showcase might have had an impact on this Top 10, but we didn’t think it would be this much. The nine dream matchups yielded some amazing results which are sure to have implications for the latter half of the season.

Our honorary No. 11 Team of the Week is Chapin (S.C.), which won the state’s Class 5A title with a 9-6 win over Fort Mill (S.C.). It is the school’s first state championship in girls’ lacrosse.

1. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 16-0

Will close the regular season with an enormous game against this for gutsy? McDonogh agreed to a Thursday rematch of last year’s IAAM Class A title match with Towson Notre Dame Prep (Md.) at the same place where the legendary 198-game win streak ended, Tierney Field at the U.S. Lacrosse campus in Sparks, Md.

2. Ridgewood (N.J.) 11-0

Maroons took a 10-3 lead and ran out 12-8 winners over Moorestown (N.J.) in a rematch of last year’s Tournament of Champions final

Stallions, who have scored an uproarious 361 goals this season, played Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) in the second round of the FHSAA Class 1A Tournament

Got a 10-8 victory over Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.)

6. Eastport-South Manor (N.Y.) 9-1

Came back from a defeat against Mount Sinai (N.Y.) to defeat Darien (Conn.) in the Gains for Brains Showcase

Beat Alexandria Bishop Ireton (Va.) in mid-week, but lost to Eastport-South Manor at the weekend
