May 9, 2019 — The FHSAA takes a page out of NCAA Division II

Beginning this evening at Boca Raton (Fla.), teams representing six sports are coming together for the semifinals and finals of the Florida High School Athletic Association state championships for the spring season.

It’s like those weekends every couple of years when NCAA Division II showcases an entire season’s worth of sports in one city; the NCAA has done this in Pittsburgh, Pensacola, and Louisville in recent years.

One of the FHSAA championships to be contested this weekend is Class 1A girls’ lacrosse, which should see an awesome matchup between Delray American Heritage (Fla.) and Orlando Lake Highland Prep (Fla.) — and that’s just in the semifinals.

But instead of doing the buildup ourselves, we’ll let the Orlando Sentinel do it.
