Sept. 14, 2021 — Top 10 for the week of Sept. 12

Well, we’re back for another field hockey season, but instead of last year’s monthly Top 10, we are going for our weekly list of the best field hockey programs in the country. As usual, we’ll do one of these “back of the envelope” lists every week until Thanksgiving, then we’ll have a more well-researched Top 50 in December.

Our No. 11 Team of the Week is St. Joseph’s University. The Hawks, thanks in large part to the coaching of Lynn Farquhar, has now become the best college field hockey program of the “City Six” in Philadelphia, and, last Friday, became the third team this season to beat your defending NCAA Division I champions, UNC.

1. Voorhees Eastern (N.J.) 2-0
Vikings rounding into mid-season form although an interesting match Saturday against Cherry Hill Camden Catholic (N.J.) awaits
