June 7, 2022 — Top 10 for the week of June 5

The playoffs in many states are seeing a number of teams in this Top 10 which could collide at season’s end. Saturday, for example, the New England lacrosse intelligentsia is expecting New Canaan and Darien to contest the Class L tournament final. However, Wilton and Ridgefield could very well spoil the party; such is the nature of scholastic competition.

1. Brooklandville St. Paul’s (Md.) 17-1
Season complete: Took everything that Glenelg Country gave them in a 20-7 regular-season loss and dished it right back out to win the IAAM “A” final 15-7

2. Victor (N.Y.) 19-1
Blue Devils take on Fayetteville-Manlius (N.Y.) Friday morning in the NYSPHSAA Class B semifinal round

3. New Canaan (Conn.) 19-2
The Rams will play Ridgefield (Conn.) for a berth in the CIAC Class L title match

4. Westwood (Mass.) 20-0
Wolverines start their state tournament trek later this week against the winner of Brookline (Mass.) and New Bedford (Mass.); the MIAA Division 1 bracket is loaded, with Walpole and Franklin part of this statewide tournament

5. Glenelg (Md.) Country School 17-2
Season complete: Dragons gave a great account of themselves all season but dropped the final to St. Paul’s

6. Northport (N.Y.) 18-1
Tigers left it late, but got by Massapequa (N.Y.) 11-10 in overtime; Northport takes on Suffern the NYSPHSAA Class A semifinals

7. Radnor Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) 22-0
Carroll will play Downingtown Bishop Shanahan (Pa.) in the semifinals of the PIAA Class AAA Tournament

8. Sykesville Century (Md.) 19-0
Season complete: Knights beat Parkton Hereford (Md.) 16-6 in the MPSSAA Class 3A state final at Loyola University

9. Darien (Conn.) 20-1
The Blue Wave play Wilton (Conn.) today in the CIAC Class L semifinals

10. Bronxville (N.Y.) 19-1
The Broncos take on a good Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) side in the NYSPHSAA Class D semifinals

Who’s out: None.
