May 5, 2023 — Friday Statwatch for games played through May 3

Welcome back to Statwatch, everyone. Our statistical occurrence of the week is the fact that junior attacker Riley Sterling from Palo Alto Castilleja (Calif.) became only the ninth known scholastic girls’ lacrosse player to score 150 goals in a season.

That being said, Sterling stands in 14th place.

How is that, you may ask? Well, there are a lot of repeats in the 150-goal club. Fran Frieri is in the list three times. Emma Murphy and Sophia Turchetta did it twice each. It does point up the fact that, when it comes to girls’ lacrosse talent, a lot of players may know who are the better scorers are, but a lot of defenses are simply unable to stop them.

What you see below are from available sources, including MaxPreps, Berks Game Day, the KHSAA, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Long Island Newsday, the Albany Times-Union, the Utah High School Activities Association, GLaxFive, the Minnesota Lacrosse Hub, and Advance Media. We encourage you or your school to adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, and we encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.
