May 3, 2024 — Friday Statwatch for games played through May 1

This week, let’s focus on the two girls’ lacrosse players who have combined for more than 1,200 goal involvements over their careers.

Caroline Ling, as of the close of play on Wednesday, has a combined 621 goals and assists for Springboro (Ohio). The senior, committed to Rutgers, has had a remarkable season with 114 goals thus far, including a number of 10-goal performances. The thing is, Springboro has five more regular-season games, and could make a deep run in the OHSAA state tournament. She has a great chance to break the record for a four-year career in terms of goals scored, though she is likely to fall short of Corinne Wessels’ four-year record for combined goals and assists.

Our second player is Ryann Frechette, the senior from St. John’s Bartram Trail (Fla.). She has 608 combined goals and assists as of the close of play on Wednesday, but her side is in the thick of the FHSAA state tournament. Bartram Trail takes on Lake Mary (Fla.) this evening in the quarterfinal of a loaded Class 2A bracket.

What follows are statistics from available published sources, including MaxPreps, Berks Game Day, the KHSAA, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, PhillyLacrosse, and Advance Media.

I encourage every school, league, or state governing body to adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, and we encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of American girls’ lacrosse as possible.
