Serving the scholastic field hockey and lacrosse community since 1998

May 24, 2024 — Friday Statwatchfor games played through May 22

I know, I know. There are plenty of other girls’ scholastic lacrosse players other than Caroline Ling, who broke the all-time career girls’ lacrosse scoring record recently. But given her scything play for Springboro (Ohio) over the last two years, it’s hard not to give her flowers for the fact that she is in rarified air when it comes to the all-time greats.

It is also notable, however, to see what Gianna Frieri, the younger sister of the all-time single-season goalscorer Fran Frieri, has been doing. The junior, now committed to Vanderbilt, has scored 124 goals this year for a Lockport (Ill.) Township side that is playing O’Fallon (Ill.) Township this evening in the octofinal round of the Illinois High School Association tournament.

These numbers that you see below are from available published sources, including MaxPreps, Berks Game Day, the KHSAA, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, PhillyLacrosse, and Advance Media.

Given the changing publishing models when it comes to newspapers, I encourage every school, league, or state governing body to adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, and we encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of American girls’ lacrosse as possible.

So, we need your help. If you see something out of place or missing, please feel free to send an email to us at TopOfTheCircle.com. Send us some evidence (a website will do), and we can make corrections. Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you in a week.
